چکیده

The depth of field of real/virtual and focused mode in three-dimensional integral imaging is taken into account by using the Fourier optics approach and considering the effects of diffraction and defocus aberration. The concepts of point spread function and optical transfer function are applied to three-dimensional integral imaging system and used to investigate the depth of field for both modes.

Digital slicing of 3D scenes by Fourier filtering of integral images.

We present a novel technique to extract depth information from 3D scenes recorded using an Integral Imaging system. The technique exploits the periodic structure of the recorded integral image to implement a Fourier-domain filtering algorithm. A proper projection of the filtered integral image permits reconstruction of different planes that constitute the 3D scene. The main feature of our metho...

Undistorted pickup method of both virtual and real objects for integral imaging.

Optically corrected pickup method of both virtual and real objects for integral imaging is proposed. The proposed pickup system has imbricate view volumes which are equivalent to those in the integral imaging display. Therefore, there is no distortion resulting from the discord in directions of elemental image between pickup and display. In this system, the view volumes are transformed by 4f op...

Vector Fourier optics of anisotropic materials

The Fourier optics technique is founded on the transfer function derived from the scalar wave equation and thus has traditionally been applied to monochromatic scalar fields propagating paraxially in isotropic lossless materials. We review scalar and vector diffraction theory to show that the scalar Fourier optics technique can be seamlessly extended to the case of time-dependent nonparaxial an...

Simulation of Light-Nanowire Interaction in the TE Mode Using Surface Integral Equations

In this paper, the scattering of a plane monochromatic electromagnetic wave from a nanowire with circular cross-section in the transverse electric (TE) mode is simulated using the well-known Stratton-Chu surface integral equations. For an ordinary dielectric nanowire the refraction phenomenon is nicely simulated. In the case of a plasmonic nanowire no sign of surface plasmon excitation and prop...

Analysis of the depth of field of integral imaging displays based on wave optics.

In this paper, we analyze the depth of field (DOF) of integral imaging displays based on wave optics. With considering the diffraction effect, we analyze the intensity distribution of light with multiple micro-lenses and derive a DOF calculation formula for integral imaging display system. We study the variations of DOF values with different system parameters. Experimental results are provided ...
